What to do in and around Laudat

Laudat is the ideal starting point for many activities in the Morne Trois Pitons National Parc, mainly hiking, bird watching, but also swimming, and is just perfect to explore and enjoy the abundant nature of the island of Dominica.

Did you know that the Waitukubuli National Trail runs dirctly through Laudat? Segment four, coming from Wotten Waven and leading to Pond Cassé roundabout, passes Laudat.
So you can either explore this part of the trail from Laudat, or you can spend a night or two in Laudat when you are doing the WNT.

Titou Gorge

Titou Gorge is located a 15 minute walk from Sisserou RIver Lodge.

You can swim through a narrow ravine with towering cliffs to a waterfall. The water is clear and refreshing.

Outside the gorge, there is a big bassin plus showers of hot spring water, that is collected in two pipes.

There is a small restaurant and souvenir shops, you can also rent life jackets (mandatory for the swim) and phone-protecting pouch bags.

Boiling Lake

The hiking trail to Boiling Lake is not for the fainthearted, but a must for all hiking and nature lovers.

Depending on your fitness level, the adventurous hike takes 5 to 8 hours, taking you up and down the mountains of Trois Pitons National Park, leading you through breathtaking scenery to the rewarding sight of the second-largest boiling lake in the world.

Don't forget your swim suit, so that you can take a hot, relaxing bath in one of the pools of a small river running next to the hiking trail, not far from the Boiling Lake.

Fresh Water Lake

Being the largest of the four lakes in Dominica, Fresh Water Lake is definitely worth a visit. At a height of 762 m, there is a hiking trail around the lake which takes about one hour.
Along the trail, you can enjoy great views on the lake, the surrounding peaks, the Atlantic as well as the Caribbean Sea.

Boeri Lake

At 869 m, Boeri Lake is the highest lake in Dominica. The hike is quite easy and takes only around 45 minutes. Depending on the weather conditions, you can have great sights to the ocean, or maybe you wander in misty, wet clouds, hardly seeing the opposite shore of the lake, also a quite interesting experience.

Middleham Falls

Middleham Falls is the highest waterfall (60 m) in Dominica. The hike is intermediate level and takes around 1.5 hours (one way).
Next to the viewing platform, there is a little path leading to the lower pool of the water fall, where you can take a swim.

Cathedral

The hike to the Cathedral is about 30 minutes (one way) and leads through a small river bed.
High rocks were carved by years and years of water flow into what is now called the cathedral, and from above a water fall comes down. High up you can see a little sky, around you nothing but the rain forest - all this creates an stunning atmosphere..
